Hum, the original version, is the product of a collaboration between two old friends and a flash of inspiration. The song basically wrote itself once jenn sat down with one of Ursula Kowcun’s poems. Its original acoustic form of Wurlitzer and voice, heard here, retains the raw feel of that moment of creation. And because any good song deserves a remix… Leon Louder's mix brings out the darkly dramatic undertones of mierau's vocal, wrapping it intimately around a gauzy tech-dub frame decorated with scattered synth lights, like a ghost-spaceship passing in the night. In almost direct contrast, Hollis P Monroe's mix presents a surprisingly optimistic, feel-good vibe while retaining the melancholy house edge for which he's best known.
